Privacy policy
Daily Whiskers is operated by Kenneth Widemon. This policy explains how the app, this website, and support correspondence handle information. For questions or privacy requests, email dailywhiskers.support@gmail.com.
Account information
You can view daily cards without an account. If you choose to create an account or sign in from Settings, the app uses Google Firebase email/password authentication. Your email address and password are sent to Firebase to create or authenticate your account. Firebase assigns a user identifier and manages authentication information. The app uses that identifier to recognize your signed-in session. Guest access does not create an anonymous Firebase account.
The app does not write your password to its own files or logs. Firebase's SDK maintains authentication state on your device so you can remain signed in. Logging out and deleting an account are different actions.
Service and security data
Firebase processes technical information such as IP addresses and user-agent information to operate authentication and prevent abuse. Its SDK may also process diagnostic information. See Firebase's privacy information and Apple-platform data disclosures for details.
Your daily content stays local
Cat images and quotes are bundled with the app. Today is selected on your device using its local date. Bonus selections and Saved Cards are stored on this device, including retained artwork, quotes, and favorite membership. Daily Whiskers does not upload or sync this collection to its own backend, offer user-content uploads, or maintain a cloud reading history. Normal operating-system backups may include local card data. Signing out or deleting your account does not clear Saved Cards. You can remove individual favorites or choose Settings > Clear Saved Cards; clearing favorites retains daily selections and does not change existing backups. From a card's options menu, you can share Today, Bonus, or Saved Cards without signing in. The app or service you choose to share through may process the shared content under its own privacy practices.
Daily Whiskers does not use advertising, sell personal information, or add app-level analytics or crash-reporting services. The app's backend integration is Firebase Authentication; its service-level processing described above still applies.
Why information is used
Account information is used to provide sign-in, account creation, password reset, account deletion, and security. If you contact support, your email address and the information you choose to send are used to respond and help resolve your request. Do not send passwords, reset links, or verification codes.
Service providers
Google Firebase provides authentication, Gmail handles this app's support mailbox, and GitHub Pages hosts this website. Providers may process information on infrastructure outside your country under their applicable terms and privacy practices. We may also disclose information when required by applicable law.
This website has no analytics scripts, contact forms, advertising, or embedded third-party media. GitHub logs visitors' IP addresses for security purposes. See the GitHub Privacy Statement. Email correspondence is processed by Google; see the Google Privacy Policy.
Retention and deletion
Firebase retains account information until deletion is initiated. Firebase currently states that logged authentication IP addresses are retained for a few weeks and other authentication data is removed from live and backup systems within 180 days after user deletion is initiated. Account deletion is therefore not a promise of immediate erasure from every backup.
To delete your account, open Settings in the signed-in app and choose Delete Account, verify your current password, and confirm permanent deletion. If your installed version does not show this option or you cannot access the account, contact support for help. Uninstalling the app or logging out does not delete the Firebase account. Signing out or deleting your account returns you to guest access; daily cards remain available.
Support messages are held in the operator's Gmail mailbox separately from Firebase account data. You can contact us about access to or deletion of that correspondence.
Your choices and requests
You can use daily cards without creating an account. Optional sign-in and account creation are available from Settings > Sign In. You can reset your password from that sign-in screen, log out from Settings, or request account deletion. Depending on your location, applicable law may provide additional rights over your personal information. Contact the address above to request access, correction, or deletion, or to raise a privacy concern. We may need to verify account ownership without asking for your password. You may also contact your local data-protection authority where applicable.
Changes to this policy
Updates will be posted on this page with a revised effective date. Please contact us if anything about the app's handling of your information is unclear.
